Madame Tussauds New York is temporarily closed as mandated by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. We will post information on our website regarding plans for re-opening as it becomes available.

Security Policies

Bag Search Policy

All bags and packages are subject to search upon entering the Madame Tussauds building, current employees of Madame Tussauds, Merlin North America and Business Partners are exempt by showing of their Merlin issued ID.

Prohibited Items-Bag Check:

Luggage larger than a standard back pack or those unable to be searched are not permitted in the building, security must be able to see the bottom of the bag.

Firearms or any other type of weapon (knives, box cutters, nun-chucks, mace, pepper spray, stun guns or tasers, laser pointers, fireworks or any other potential weapon determined at the discretion of  Staff) are not permitted in the Madame Tussauds building.

The only exceptions will be members of NYPD and federal agencies that are required to carry a firearm.

Out of jurisdiction or retired law enforcement officers are not allowed to bring in any of the above listed weapons.

No bicycles, scooters, tricycles, skate boards, roller/in-line skates or shoes with wheels (wheelies)

Disability assistance equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, canes and electric scooters are permitted, however, upright or “Segway” scooters are not permitted

Pet Access Policy: concerns the access of privately owned animals (pets) to the Madame Tussauds building, the policy is as follows:

 No animals will be permitted into or on the property of Madame Tussauds. This policy is in effect at all times including when the facilities are not open to the public. Exceptions are as follows: Certified Service Animals and animals in training for certification will be permitted to assist guests with disabilities. Service dogs or service dogs in training must be 12 months or older. Animals under 12 months of age will not be permitted. Police or other certified assistance animals will be permitted when accompanied by a qualified handler on official business.



Code of Conduct


Indecent exposure, sexual acts or behavior are prohibited.

The use of illegal or illicit drugs is strictly prohibited.

No vandalism – it is illegal to deface, damage, mutilate or destroy Madame Tussauds property, exhibits or equipment including altering or tampering with computers or software.

No horseplay, running or climbing is permitted in the Madame Tussauds Building.

Fighting, provoking a fight or engaging in disorderly or boisterous conduct is prohibited.

Offensive, abusive or threatening language or behavior is prohibited.

No guest is allowed to create any activity that could be described as a performance, a show or a happening, make a declaration or speech, create a media event or photo opportunity, give organized speaking tours of Madame Tussauds without prior approval from the Madame Tussauds management.

The use of tobacco products or E Cigarettes is not permitted anywhere on Madame Tussauds property.

No trespassing – guests must remain out of all areas of Madame Tussauds that are designated as being off-limits to the general public

No loitering. Vending, begging, gambling, selling, soliciting, campaigning or handing out information of any kind or petitioning within Madame Tussauds property is prohibited

Guests failing to adhere to these conditions could be subject to their removal from Madame Tussauds property without a reimbursement of the cost of admission. Madame Tussauds reserves the right to further restrict these terms and conditions upon a member of the public who is considered a threat to the safety of our visitors, exhibits, equipment or property. We retain the right to alter, delete or add further restrictions at our discretion at any time.
