Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is delighted to announce the internationally renowned singer, model, and beauty queen Catriona Gray, as the newest addition to the all-star lineup of wax figures at the tourist attraction. As a remarkable icon, Catriona is known not only for her Miss Universe journey but also for her passionate advocacy work and philanthropy. Officially launched on September 1, 2023, Catriona’s wax figure arrival at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is a display of inspiration, talent, and pride for fans all over the world.
Catriona, who is popular for winning the Miss Universe pageant in 2018 and her passionate advocacy work, was initially immortalized at Madame Tussauds Singapore with her wax figure launch in 2022. This creation, crafted meticulously by the Madame Tussauds team of experts and world-renowned designer Mak Tumang, perfectly captures Catriona’s grace, poise, and confidence in her fiery lava gown and signature lava walk pose. The whole ensemble, from her hair, iconic three stars and the sun ear cuff, down to her shoes designed by Jojo Bragais, pays homage to her remarkable journey to the Miss Universe crown and her continuous commitment to her advocacies for the country and society.
Madame Tussauds Hong Kong aims to celebrate international tourism as it invites more visitors to enjoy the immersive experience that the tourist attraction has to offer. With Catriona's wax figure as a prominent addition to this all-star lineup, the Filipino talent is boosted up on an international platform for the whole world to see.
BoBo Yu, Head of Sales and Marketing of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, shared, “We are delighted to have Catriona Gray join the ranks of all the iconic personalities here at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. She has made her mark with her advocacy work and time as Miss Universe. Having her wax figure here offers our visitors a special chance to connect and be inspired by her story."
Celebrating this momentous occasion, the Madame Tussauds Hong Kong team together with Catriona initiated launch efforts that pumped up the excitement for this move. Philippine Consul General Mr. Raly L. Tejada and Vice Consul Mr. Jose Angelo D.G. Manuel also graced the event to show their appreciation.
The program started with the wax unveiling and an exclusive Q&A portion with Catriona. To make things more engaging, she also facilitated a game of mini pageant with her Filipino fans. Catriona guided the mini pageant candidates to her signature lava walk and crowned the winner herself. Fans also had a chance to enjoy the famous tourist attraction experience and get up close and personal with their favourites as they toured Madame Tussauds Hong Kong after the program.
In the much-anticipated unveiling, Catriona shared, “Every opportunity like this marks an exciting start not just for me but everyone who wishes to visit Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. The Philippines is a country beaming with talent and potential, and the fact that we have Pinoy names in the displays proves that we can represent our country with pride and so much more.“
