HONG KONG (21 February 2017) Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is set to launch the world-first wax figure of the Indonesian President Joko Widodo. Visitors will have the chance to meet his figure later this year at the famed attraction in The Peak.
President Joko Widodo (also known as Jokowi), born in 1961 in Surakarta, Indonesia, is the seventh President of Indonesia. He was featured on the international cover of TIME Magazine and was hailed as ‘A New Hope’.
President Joko Widodo spent hours sitting with a group of skilled Madame Tussauds’ sculpting team and artists at the Presidential palace in Jakarta. To ensure his wax figure would closely resemble him, more than 200 precise measurements and hundreds of reference photos were taken. The team was impressed with his professionalism and enjoyed every moment working with the President.
‘’We are very glad that President Joko Widodo kindly took so much time out of his busy schedule for the sitting,’’ commented Jenny You, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. Jenny continued: ‘’President Joko Widodo was friendly and patient. He spent a great deal of time discussing with our team to make sure his figure would be made to perfection. We are confident that his arrival will greatly enhance the experience of visitors and cannot wait to bring the finished figure to our attraction by the second quarter of 2017.’’
President Joko Widodo will join other world leaders like Soekarno and Mahatma Gandhi in the Historical and National Heroes area of the attraction.
