Madame Tussauds Hong Kong unveils 2020 plans for #PacquiaoforMTHK

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong announces the addition of a new Filipino wax figure to its roster of icons, none other than boxing champ Manny Pacquiao!

"I'm very honored that they chose me," said Pacquiao, whose 41st birthday also happens to fall on the same day as the announcement of the exciting news. "Masaya ako na maitataas ko muli ang bandera ng Pilipinas sa ganitong paraan." (I’m glad I’ll be able to bring pride to the Filipinos this way).

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong Senior Marketing Manager BoBo Yu shared her excitement over welcoming Pacquiao to the attraction. “The Philippines continues to be one of our strongest markets and having Manny Pacquaio who is known globally for his achievements in sports is an honour for us. He is one personality that the attraction has been wanting to have and we cannot wait the Filipino fans to see the figure in 2020,” said Yu.

It took 6 hours to measure the boxer for his wax figure, but Pacquiao stayed in good spirits, patiently cooperating with the team on site. “It was a new experience for me,” shared Pacquiao. “Ganito pala ka-detalye gumawa ng wax figure kaya mas na appreciate ko yung mga staff.” (I didn’t know that the measurement process was this detailed so I appreciated everyone in the team more.)

The very detailed and meticulous MTHK staff chooses the best skin tone to perfectly match the wax figure to the real Manny Pacquaio.

Pacquaio was equally thrilled to share this news with his family. “Mas naging proud ako na maging dad nila. (I’m proud to say that I’m their dad) I can’t wait to bring them to Madame Tussauds Hong Kong to see my wax figure. Excited rin ako to see how it will look like and i-share ito to my Filipino fans,”  said Pacquiao. (I am very excited to see my wax figure and share this news to my Filipino fans.)

The wax figure is set to be unveiled in 2020, so stay tuned for updates!
