- Sonja Zietlow grew up with her sister and mother in Bergisch-Gladbach, Germany. After high school, Zietlow worked as a tourist entertainer in Italy, Turkey, Mexico and Guadeloupe before she started her apprenticeship to become the first female pilot in Germany to steer scheduled flights of a Boing 737.
- Zietlow's participation as a candidate for the matchmaking reality show 'Herz ist Trumpf' brought her offers to work as a presenter, which is the reason why she had to leave the company Lufthansa. Then she moderated TV shows for children and teenagers like "Bim Bam Bino" and ‘Die HUGO Show’ on the German program Sat1. From 1997 to 2001, she presented her own talkshow ‘Sonja’ and German versions of ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ and ‘The Weakest Link’. In 2002 Zietlow moved to the German TV channel called RTL, where she moderated the ranking shows ‘The 10 ...’ and ‘The 25 ...’. Since 2004, Zietlow has been hosting the show ‘Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!’ (In English: ‘I'm a Celebrity - Get me out of here!’). With this show, she became one of the most popular German hosts. This show was nominated for the German TV awards ‘Deutscher Fernsehpreis’ and ‘Grimme Preis’. Additionally, later shows such as ‘Der große deutsch …text’, ‘Welt der Wunder - Wissensshow’ and the Castingshow ‘Sing! Wenn du kannst’ were quite successful.
- Zietlow is a private co-founder and patron of ‘Beschützerinstinkte e.V.’, an organization which supports animal-assisted therapies. With ‘blue: dogs’ she also helps needy dogs grom Spain to find a new and safe home. Sonja Zietlow is married to Jens Oliver Haas, a television writer, whom she had met during a shooting. They are living in the south of Munich. At Madame Tussauds Berlin, you don’t have to travel to Australia to take part in a jungle examination and meet the presenter of the show.
