Madame Tussauds Hollywood has joined Fiesta de la Flor, the annual festival which celebrates the life and legacy of Selena Quintanilla. For the very first time, the Selena wax figure will leave the attraction to travel cross-country for the event which will be held on March 24-25, 2017 in Corpus Christi, Texas. In preparation for traveling to the event, the Queen of Tejano music’s figure will not be at Madame Tussauds Hollywood from March 13 – April 1, 2017.
The Selena Quintanilla figure was launched at a fan event at Madame Tussauds Hollywood on August 30, 2016 with special guests Abraham Quintanilla, Marcella Quintanilla, Suzette Quintanilla, A.B. Quintanilla, Chris Perez, Jackie Guerra (Selena), Jackie Cruz (Orange is the New Black), and recording artists Paula DeAnda, and Gaby Moreno.
Dressed in a recreated stage look from Selena’s concert held at the Memorial Coliseum in Corpus Christi, TX on Feb 7, 1993, the figure’s look celebrates her concert performance recorded for the album Selena Live!, which won the GRAMMY Award for Best Mexican/American Album in 1994.
