- Calvin Harris was born onJanuary 17, in 1984 in Dumfires and grew up under the name of Adam Richard Wiles as the son of a biochemist and a housewife in Scotland. Harris was already enthusiastic about electronic music at the age of eleven and began to record some demos in the domestic bedroom in his young years. At the age of 18 he published his first songs. Under the pseudonym "Stouffer" Calvin Harris achieved first successes by the release of the songs "Da Bongos" and "Brighter Days". By uploading self-composed songs on an Internet platform, Harris was spotted by a talent scout, who offered him a label contract. In 2007 Harris released his debut album "I Created Disco". He achieved his first big success with the hit "Acceptable in the 80's", which has been present in the top 10 of the British single charts for 15 weeks. With his following albums he reached top chart positions worldwide. A special feature is that he produces almost all songs on a simple laptop. Together with Rihanna, Ellie Goulding, Kelis or John Newman. Additionally Calvin Harris was one of the producers of Kylie Minogues well-known album “X”. His greatest international success so far was the song "We Found Love" featuring Rihanna. His music is classified to the House genre but has influences from the Electropop and dance music.
