Legendary shooter Stephen Curry brings basketball heatwave to The Peak

HONG KONG (13 June 2016) Madame Tussauds Hong Kong will welcome legendary shooter and two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry. The arrival of Curry’s wax figure – the only one in Asia – on 5 July 2016 will heat up the summer for his fans.

Legendary shooter Stephen Curry officially joins the attraction

On 5 July 2016, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong will welcome the wax figure of NBA basketball star Stephen Curry, who performed spectacularly in the 2015-16 regular season and playoffs. Curry became a professional basketball player in 2009 and has been with the Golden State Warriors ever since. In only a few years’ time, Curry has already created and smashed a handful of NBA records, including the most three-pointers made in a single game – a record that he set in the 2012-13 season and broke twice in subsequent seasons.

Named NBA’s Most Valuable Player in 2014-16, Curry is one of today’s most successful post-80s basketball players and continues to dazzle with his dribbling and three-pointer wizardry. Many visitors of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong are in fact basketball fans, thus the attraction has decided to add Asia’s one and only Curry wax figure to the permanent line-up in order to diversify the attraction’s offerings. Curry has just announced that he will forgo the 2016 Olympic Games, and the NBA games will only resume in the fall, so fans hungry for some basketball action can visit their idol at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong during the summer months.

Dressed in his #30 jersey and dribbling a basketball with his left hand, Curry’s wax figure captures the sports star in action. In their quest for perfection, the Madame Tussauds team has replicated Curry’s every single feature, down to his four tattoos including the English alphabetical letter “A” – the first letter of his wife’s name – on his ring finger. The resulting wax figure is so refined and lifelike that Curry’s younger daughter was reduced to tears of confusion when she saw two fathers at the unveiling ceremony!
