June 27, 2006 – Exactly 20 years ago today, the actor visited the Austrian capital for the first and last time to present the premiere of the animated film “Over the Hedge” at the Gartenbaukino in Vienna, in which he voiced the raccoon “RJ” in the original version.
Reason enough to bring the action star, known for films like “Die Hard,” “Pulp Fiction,” and “Armageddon,” back to Vienna on his birthday—a city he described at the time as “magnificent and beautiful.” And this time, he’s come to stay: Following his return visit to the cinema on the Ringstrasse, the wax version of Bruce Willis can now be admired permanently at Madame Tussauds in the Prater.
Just like his red carpet appearances, guests can now find him right at the entrance, dressed in an elegant black suit with a white shirt.
“The Bruce Willis figure is a tribute to an actor whom we wish to honor for his unique film career,” said Lukas Rauscher, press spokesperson for Madame Tussauds Vienna. “With over 140 film and television productions and numerous awards to his name, he continues to captivate audiences to this day, and we are delighted to welcome him back to Vienna.”
Norman Shetler, managing director of Vienna’s Gartenbaukino, was also delighted to see the actor again: “Few stars have left such a lasting impression during their visit to the Gartenbaukino as Bruce Willis did during his last-minute appearance in 2006. He greeted every staff member personally, took plenty of time for conversations and selfies, and then, in high spirits, got the audience in the theater in the mood for the screening with charm and verve. Of course, it would have been nice to have Bruce as a guest in person again, but as is so often the case, the impressive figures at Madame Tussauds are the ‘next best thing’ here, too!”
Bruce Willis is now on display at Madame Tussauds Vienna. Tickets can be booked HERE.
