Magical unveiling: Harry Houdini as a new wax figure at Madame Tussauds Vienna
- Monday 22nd September 2025
- Wiener Prater
The most famous escape artist of all time was unveiled on Monday evening and will be inviting visitors to immerse themselves in his mysterious world until the beginning of November. After that, the figure will return to its permanent home in Budapest.
"Harry Houdini stands for courage, illusion and showmanship like no other. We are delighted to be able to exhibit him here for a limited time and to give our guests unforgettable moments full of magic," said Lukas Rauscher, press spokesman for Madame Tussauds.
The unveiling took place at Magic World Vienna – Madame Tussauds' immediate neighbour – providing the perfect setting for this magical occasion. Lucca & Anca, the world champions of mental magic, had the honour of presenting the likeness in front of numerous prominent guests from the worlds of culture, media and entertainment, including Zoryana Kushpler, Simone Lugner, Herbert ‘Herby’ Stanonik, Conny Kreuter, Mr. Austria Christopher Dengg and Pablo Grande. This was followed shortly afterwards by two breathtaking illusions that amazed the audience.
‘At Magic World Vienna, we have already shared the stage with over 100 of the world's best magicians. But performing magic together with Harry Houdini was something very special. If he were still alive today, he would definitely be part of our live shows. And some of our artists will still be talked about in 100 years' time!’ say Anca & Lucca Lucian.
As a special highlight, original objects that Houdini himself used were displayed in collaboration with the Circus & Clown Museum Vienna.
The figure itself shows Houdini in a classic outfit – striped shirt, tie and dark trousers – and depicts him in one of his characteristic escape poses. ‘With heavy chains around his body and iron balls on his legs, the “master of illusion” is presented in all his drama and suspense in a lifelike manner.’
Harry Houdini will be on display in the wax section of the attraction until the beginning of November. Tickets can be booked online HERE.
Visitors benefit twice: with a ticket to Madame Tussauds Vienna, they receive a 25% discount on a show at Magic World Vienna – and vice versa.
