Sisi back in Bad Ischl
- Friday 2nd May 2025
- Madame Tussauds
On Thursday, Romy Schneider returned to Bad Ischl in her role as Sisi - as a wax figure. The likeness of the actress was exhibited at the opening of the brand new 4-star hotel ‘Grand Elisabeth’.
In addition to numerous national and international press, celebrities such as actress Dominique Devenport, known from the RTL series ‘Sisi’, ex-skier Rainer Schönfelder, actress Anja Kruse and Philipp and Josef Zauner, the investors of this hotel, also flocked to the event.
‘We are delighted that we were able to go on tour with the wax figure of Romy Schneider and thus help the Grand Elisabeth Hotel to make the opening an unforgettable experience’ says Lukas Rauscher, Marketing Manager of Madame Tussauds Vienna.
To make the figure look as realistic as possible, no detail was left out: The figure wore a white dress, which was modelled on the third part of the Sissi trilogy ‘Fateful Years of an Empress’. Even the crown she wore was inspired by it. Each hair was inserted individually. Oil colours were used to match the skin tone exactly.
The location was just as spectacular: the wax figure was placed in front of the original carriage from the Sissi films, which was purchased at auction and restored by investors for over 100,000 euros. This carriage now has a place of honour in the lobby.
The wax figure can now be seen again in the ‘Sisi Uncovered Area’ in the Madame Tussauds Vienna wax museum in the Prater. Tickets can be booked online HERE.
