- Madame Tussauds, Impossible Festival
Journey back to 2010...
.. where skinny jeans were all the rage, Justin Bieber had us in a chokehold, and The X Factor was one of the biggest shows on national television. There was lots for us to enjoy, but there was something missing – a new boy band!
Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson were about to become one of the biggest boybands of the 21st century, by a stroke of serendipity. Auditioning individually for the popular talent show, The X Factor, where aspiring singers were brought to stardom through our screens, the boys won over the judging panel but were later rejected by Simon Cowell and his fellow judges at bootcamp.
In a twist of fate, the judges decided they would work better as a five piece. It was then that ‘One Direction' was born and they would go on to thrive in the popular competition. One year later their debut single ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ charted at number one in the UK and Ireland and peaked at number 4 on the billboard charts in the US.
From here their success grew, dropping chart-topping hits such as ‘Little Things’ and ‘The Best Song Ever’. Within just a few years, five young unknown boys, were now five men dominating the music industry. They went on to become one of the best-selling boybands of all time, selling over 70 million records worldwide during their 6-year tenure. They made history by becoming the only musical group to have their first four albums debut at number one and held five sell-out global tours between 2010-2016.
First unveiled back in 2013, the figures took a little break from Madame Tussauds London before popping back in 2025 for the “Summer of Icons.” But Directioners loved having them back so much that they made enough noise to bring the boys back for good — and now they’re here to stay!
Back by popular demand, Britains beloved boyband has returned to Madame Tussauds London for you to get up close and personal with. Situated in Impossible Festival, the band is ready and waiting for you to come and meet them.
