  • Audrey Kathleen Ruston was born on 4th May 1929 in Brussels, Belgium. She is portrayed here as her New York socialite character, Holly Golightly in the classic film, Breakfast At Tiffany's (1961) for which she was nominated for an Academy Award®. Not only in Madame Tussauds Vienna portrayed her wax figure in this special pose – also in other Madame Tussauds worldwide, her wax figure sits in famous breakfast scene !
  • The legendary ‘little black dress’ that Hepburn wore in Breakfast At Tiffany’s was auctioned off by Christies for $920,000 in 2006. All of the proceeds from the sale went to the City of Joy Aid charity, a non-profit humanitarian organisation dedicated to helping the underprivileged in India. Although considered a Hollywood star, Hepburn spent surprisingly little time in the city itself, as most of her films were shot in overseas locations
  • Hepburn is also well known for her role as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. Before her death she visited numerous countries to support UNICEF projects, including Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia and many more. After her travels, she organized charity events in Europe and the United States where she presented these projects. In the year 1992 she had to give up her work of UNICEF because of health issues. On November, 1st 1992 the doctors diagnosed advanced colorectal cancer. Unfortunately she died on 20th January 1993 at her home in Tolochenaz on Lake Geneva and was buried in the local cemetery . At the Oscars 1993 she was posthumously awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award an honorary Oscar for special humanitarian endeavors excellent .
