- Marvel, Black Panther, Figure launch
The Wakandan King takes his rightful place today in Madame Tussauds London’s Marvel’s Hall of Heroes as the new figure of Black Panther from Marvel Studio’s Black Panther film is unveiled at the Baker Street attraction.
To celebrate the momentous first figure launch of the year, Arsenal forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who famously celebrated a goal against Liverpool by striking the Wakanda Forever pose and also donned the Super Hero’s mask when he hit the back of the net against Rennes in the Europa League, attended an exclusive first look at the figure.
On being amongst the first to see the Black Panther figure, Aubameyang said, “People know that I’m a huge fan of Black Panther and the panther is also a huge part of our national team in Gabon, so I couldn’t say no when Madame Tussauds London asked me to help them unveil their newest figure.”
“The figure looks amazing! I can’t believe how much it looks like the character you see in the films. I love the way they even have the vibranium in the suit light up. It was great to be able to bring my family with me to meet one of my heroes and I hope my fans and their families will be able to make special memories together again soon.”
The world famous attraction’s artists worked closely with Marvel throughout the creation of Black Panther’s figure, meticulously recreating each and every detail so that fans can come face to face with the Wakandan King.
Designed with the help of FBFX, leading special effects costume providers for the film industry, Black Panther’s figure is dressed in his signature Black Panther suit. As an added treat for fans, the costume contains an in-built ‘vibranium effect’, causing the suit to charge with kinetic energy and light up with a purple glow as they come into contact with it.
Brian Crosby, Creative Director, Marvel Themed Entertainment, said: “We worked closely with the amazing team at Madame Tussauds London to bring to life the Black Panther suit that fans know and love from the Marvel Studios films. The detail really is stunningly accurate and we’re sure that it will be a hit with Marvel fans young and old.”
Tim Waters, General Manager at Madame Tussauds London, said: “Black Panther has a huge legion of fans and we loved having Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang here to officially welcome our first ever Black Panther figure in to our Marvel Hall of Heroes.
“Our guests are always at the heart of what we do and working so closely with Marvel means that we can give fans the chance to really feel as though they are standing face to face with T’Challa.”
Black Panther makes his striking debut on 17th May at Madame Tussauds London. Book tickets here.
